Revamped Galaxy S3 Mini with NFC Coming Later this Month

Back in October of last year, Samsung announced the Galaxy S3 mini. Which as you can guess by the name, is a miniature version of the Galaxy S3, but the internals are very different. Now today, Samsung has another Galaxy S3 Mini announcement, which they are releasing another variant of this device. This one comes with NFC, so you can use things like Android Beam, S Beam, and Google Wallet (although I don’t think you can use that in the UK or outside the US yet). Samsung has also confirmed that this variant would be hitting the UK market later this month.

Although Samsung still has not said anything about the price on this device. But it should fall somewhere close to that of the current Galaxy S3 Mini variant, you know the one without NFC, which is selling for around £270 ($427 USD on today’s exchange rates) contract-free. So other than the addition of NFC, the Galaxy S3 mini remains the same as the currently available model. Here are the specs for that model:

  • 4-inch Super AMOLED display
  • dual-core 1GHz processor
  • 5MP rear-facing camera; VGA front-facing camera
  • 8/16GB internal storage options
  • Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean with Touchwiz

So it’s not the most high end device out there. But if you’re looking for a smaller screen size, with the latest version of Android, or close to the latest, then this is a great device. Even though it’s a dual-core processor, it should be able to handle just about anything you through at it. It should be launching in the next week or so. Since Samsung said “later this month” and there’s only about 10 days left in January. But as always, we’ll keep you up-to-date on information regarding this Galaxy S3 mini.

Does anyone have the Galaxy S3 mini right now? Are you upset that Samsung is releasing this new variant later this month? Let us know in the comments below.
