By now, we don’t have to tell you how high the demand is for the Nexus 4. Just go take a look in the Play Store, it’s been sold for weeks now. This has made LG kick their factories into overtime to try and catch up to meet demand for Google’s newest Nexus device. But as we can see, ramping up production can cause quality control to suffer.
Today we’ve been seeing reports of some users who received the 2nd batch of the Nexus 4 didn’t get the glittery backing on the device. Now for some this might not be a big deal, but for others it could be. When you take these particular Nexus 4s and look at them in the light, at any angle, you can’t see the glittery pixel pattern at all.
It could also be something intentional by LG to address the concerns of the glass on the back breaking, cracking and getting scratched up. It is also possible that the Korean manufacturer is using some different material on the back altogether than what was on the original. And because of this the Nexus 4 doesn’t shine as much as it did originally.
Maybe there’s a worldwide glitter shortage? Wouldn’t that be something funny yet amazing. I know I’d rather have a non-glittery back if it means it’s harder to break the glass on the back of the device, how about you? It just seems like the whole Nexus 4 thing is just not the way it should have went. Many want Google to go back to Samsung or HTC for the next Nexus, but we’ll see next fall.
Did you order a Nexus 4 and just receive and not have a glittery back? Let us know in the comments if you did and whether or not you care about it not shining like it should.
UPDATE: It would appear that this story has turned out to be some sort of scam by SEO folk of bad ilk. Android Central has the scoop on the scam, we’re sorry we fell for this one folks. Let Glittery Nexus 4s reign supreme!
