The Optimus G Pro has been Outed and is For Real!

There is a new sheriff in town and this one is going to be a show-stopper from LG. The Optimus G Pro has been outed in a leaked photograph that was sent to Engadget today and is sure to have the blogosphere buzzing. This is the follow-up to LG’s hit phone and brother to the Nexus 4; the LG Optimus G. Add pro to either former offering and you are sure to have an awesome experience, but first things first, the down and dirty on the Optimus G Pro.

The leaked handset is set to feature an upgraded 5.0″ 1,920 x 1,080 display and pack underneath, a scorching 1.7Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor that promises to get you where you are going, and fast. This will be running behind 2GB of RAM with 32GB of memory waiting for all the files that you couldn’t fit on your Nexus 4. The Pro will also feature LTE in almost every market with a 3,000MaH battery keeping the lights on. The Optimus G Pro offering will almost certainly be running on Android Jelly Bean of some 4.1.x variety based on its presumed release. It has also been leaked that the Pro version will carry a 13-megapixel camera on the back, just like its brother the Optimus G over on Sprint’s network and abroad. Over on the front-side, it will feature an upgraded 2.4-megapixel shooter to up the ante on those self pics people keep taking.

LG has been moving right on up in the world of smartphones with a much better than years past 2012 showing, mostly due to the success and popularity of joining the Nexus program, the Optimus G and Verizon’s only phablet offering being the LG Intuition for most of the year.

This marks the changing of the guard at LG to 5-inch 1080p super-phones in 2013. With the Optimus G being not-so-different than the Nexus 4 and with the recent chatter from LG about a longer running affair with Google’s Nexus Program, one cannot help but assume that we just might see a not-so-different close kin to the Optimus G Pro with a Nexus stamp on its back.
