When Android 4.0 was announced in November 2011, there were a ton of new features introduced. One was the fact that you can now disable most apps without needing to root your device. Now with all the bloat that manufacturers and carriers load up on devices, like S Voice, Media Hub, T-Mobile MyAccount, etc., this is a huge feature that we all love. Today, we are going to show you how to disable all those pesky apps taking up space in your app drawer.
1. Turn on your phone and unlock it
2. Open your app drawer
3. Swipe over to the Settings app and tap that.
4. Scroll down to “Applications Manager” or “Apps”, which is under the “Device” section, and select that
5. Swipe over to the “All” list of apps. This will show you all the apps installed on your device.
6. Scroll down to the app(s) you want to disable and tap on it
7. Next you’ll want to tap “Disable”
8. Now you should get a pop-up that says “If you disable a built-in app, other apps may misbehave.” Just select “OK”.
9. That’s it
Note: If you want to enable that app again, just follow the directions above and select “Enable” instead of “Disable”.
The Android team has made it super easy in Android 4.0 and above to disable these applications and we love them for this. Now there are some apps that can’t be disabled, that’s normally because doing so will mess with other apps that are needed to run different services on your device.
