Probably the most exciting mobile gaming news that’s hit the presses so far this year has been all the noise coming from Nvidia. Most notably their mobile android powered gaming console called “Project Shield”. If you haven’t heard much about it yet, (and I’d be damn surprised if you haven’t) you can check out the skinny here.
Now that all that is out of the way let’s move on to what were all thinking, or at least what some of us are thinking. What games will be available for it at launch? One seemingly electrifying title set to hit Project Shield comes from the popular development studio Bohemia Interactive. Based off their other games from the same series, ARMA Tactics is a tactics based warfare FPS game that will have you carrying out team tactical missions in a third person view. You will control a four man team and from the sounds of it, ARMA Tactics reminds me of games from the rainbow six franchise, because you run similar tactical missions using an elite military team.
Given the controller setup the gameplay mechanics should be fairly decent. All that will be left to the imagination is whether the story will have what it takes to hold people’s attention. If the images have anything to say about it, ARMA Tactics certainly looks like a fantastic game and I’m excited to give it a go, unlike the last ARMA game which was just a shooting range simulator. The graphics were good but… good god how boring could you get? Maybe it’s just me but I need more substance in a game of that caliber.
AMRA Tactics and Project Shield should both hopefully find their way in our hands sometime in Q2 of this year. If you’re thinking that you needed a new shooter to fill your slow afternoons at work, ARMA just might be able to fill that void soon. Bohemia and Nvidia are set to deliver some very exciting action to utilize the power behind Project Shield’s Tegra 4 chip. Anyone else chomping at the bit waiting for this to arrive? Once ARMA takes center stage, you can expect to find it in the TegraZone app.
