So we’ve already had Chameleon Launcher on tablets for quite sometime. I’ve played with it a bit on my Nexus 7, but so far don’t think it’s worth the price. But that might change soon. This morning, Chameleon Launcher sent out a Kickstarter update with a few sneak peek videos for a new beta that should be available very soon. The new beta is brining Chameleon to phones along with some “radical experience and interface rework” so hopefully we’ll see some big changes with Chameleon, and more people will hop on board and start using this third-party launcher.
So it looks like about 3 months after the initial release of Chameleon launcher for tablets, we’re finally going to be able to use it on our phones, which means we’ll see the launcher in more hands. Chameleon launcher is currently available on the Play Store. It does not support all widgets that come on your device or with apps you’ve downloaded. But it does include the Calendar, clock, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, RSS News Reader, Switches, Twitter and YouTube with more coming soon. Hopefully more coming in the next update.
Chameleon launcher takes a new approach to your home screen, as you can see in the image at the top of this post. It’s basically a screen full of widgets, with a dock full of shortcuts which is scrollable. It does look pretty nice and a bit revolutionary. But I think I’ll be sticking with my Nova Launcher on my devices. Although, I’ll definitely be trying this out when it is released in the Play Store.
Anyone out there already checked out Chameleon launcher? Did you like it, are you using it full-time? I’m pretty curious to know what everyone thinks about Chameleon since its much different from most other launchers available like Nova, Apex, Go, and Action Launcher.
