As 2013 really starts to get going there’s going to be more and more leaked details surrounding the smartphones that are going to shape the market. The Galaxy S IV is, of course, going to be at the forefront of all of these rumors. After last year’s phenomenal success that was the Galaxy S III, Samsung will need to do something pretty spectacular to continue that. We keep on hearing details trickle out from the rumor mill concerning the Galaxy S IV and this time around there is actually a little evidence to go with it. We’ve seen leaked images from the Galaxy S IV before but there are some more now, and they seem to confirm some more details of the device, they were uploaded to – and then quickly deleted – a Google+ account.
The photos themselves aren’t very excited at all, we’re looking at a keyboard which appears to have a South Korean layout…and a desk. So, the images aren’t that brilliant but, the EXIF data seems to tell us just what they were taken with. The EXIF data details that the images were taken with a Sony Exmor RS 13-Megapixel camera with a 1/3″ (4mm focal-length) and the model number of the device is listed as GT-I9500 is widely speculated to be the Galaxy S IV’s model number. Resolution of the images is 4128 x 2322 which is 9.6-Megapixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It’s said that 13 Megapixel cameras can shoot 9.6 Megapixel images in Auto mode because the viewfinder can only utilize full screen in 16:9 mode. EXIF data can be faked so, there’s no telling if this is true or not.
The images were found by AndroSym and while there’s no connection to Samsung concerning these images, the fact that they were quickly taken down often suggests that there’s some credit to them. Whether or not these are real is something we’ll have to wait and see about but, Samsung aren’t known for making their own imaging advances and Sony’s Exmor RS sensor is certainly a capable shooter. It might not match HTC’s “UltraPixels” from their HTC One but, Samsung will most likely give whatever sensor they use a nice makeover in the software side of things. Say what you will about TouchWiz but the camera software is really quite good.
Regardless, we’re pretty sure that the Galaxy S IV will take good quality images, what do you think?
