Whenever we talk about the latest and greatest Android smartphones, it’s hard not to think of how quickly a rip-off out of the dubious factories of China will be with us. In the case of HTC’s upcoming flagship, the HTC One, it looks like the rip-off could be beating the real deal to market. There’s not a lot to be said for this, after all, we all knew it was coming, right? GooPhone, the folks behind the amazing I5 rip-off that surfaced before the iPhone 5 did, have done it again; GizChina has the details of the GooPhone One.
As you can see, the GooPhone One looks remarkably like leaked photos of the real deal. It’s pretty amusing to think that GooPhone are showing off a rip-off of the device when HTC haven’t even released the real HTC One. Take a look at the above photo of the GooPhone One and then see the latest leaked image of the HTC One.
Now that you’ve seen irrefutable evidence that the GooPhone One is a close relative of the HTC One, we’ll let you down gently concerning the specs. What with this being a rush job out of China there’s nothing to write home about under the hood. The 4.7″ display is certainly not going to be packing the Full HD resolution of the HTC One and the quad-core processor inside the GooPhone One is the awful MediaTek MT6589 and should come with “just” 1GB of RAM. There’s no word on storage but, as this is probably going to be a low-end device it’s probably coming with 4GB of storage and a microSD card slot. There’s none of that Sense 5 business here, as you’ll be treated to Lewa OS, which sounds lovely.
You’ve got to hand it to these guys, it’s jnot only a risky move to show off devices based on another company’s designs but, to do it before the phone is even officially announced is pretty ballsy. Personally, I think this sort of thing is pretty funny, not just because Chinese manufacturers still feel the need to ape other’s designs but that they’ve managed to do it so quickly. The question here is does this make the HTC One look better or worse now, after seeing this?
