MWC is fast approaching and with that are coming a lot of rumors and leaks of devices that should be shown off by some of the bigger names in the mobile industry. With HTC and Samsung reportedly staying away from the show, this should give room for ASUS, LG and Huawei to make a bigger splash than last year. LG have already teased that they’ll be announcing a number of devices at the show and now, thanks to some more leaks, we have some details on at least one of their new devices.
LG are looking to unveil their new line of “L Series” devices at MWC and traditionally, these smartphones have been LG’s budget-minded mid-to-low range devices, that should offer those on a budget a way into the smartphone world. If, of course, they already aren’t. The LG Optimus L3 II is said to be one of LG’s rock-bottom entry-level devices and with it should be a low price-tag but, there are a number of compromises to get a low price. Take a look at the key specs below:
- 3.2-inch QVGA (that’s 240 x 320)
- Single-Core Snapdragon 1 Ghz CPU
- No word on RAM but expect 512MB
- 4GB of onboard storage, with microSD card slot
- WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS
- No word on Android version but expect no less than Android 4.0 ICS
- Dual-SIM and Single-SIM variants
Unfortunately, not a lot is known about the phone other than the above details but, from the outset it doesn’t look like this is going to be a stellar option, no matter what the price ends up being. We do have some images as well though, with the device coming in white and black. The design of the phone isn’t going to turn any heads but, in the same breath it doesn’t look awful either.
The Optimus L3 II to me, doesn’t seem like a device that should be given the Optimus moniker and it’s also a device that has questionable market viability. After all, more and more people are willing to pay a little extra to get a decent device. This offering from LG looks like a phone from 2 years ago, budget-minded devices don’t have to be terrible as HTC have proven. There’s nothing wrong with offering devices at low-cost but, you may as well offer something that’s at least a little bit desirable.
