Samsung’s Galaxy Note line looks set to receive another member soon, in the form of the Galaxy Note 8.0 and while we’ve heard quite a lot about the tablet over the past month or so, we haven’t heard much concerning price. Of course, with there being no official word in the Android news, this is all rumor and speculation so, there’s a good chance it won’t turn out true. Pricing is going to be important for Samsung as they have a real opportunity to take some wind out of the iPad Mini’s sails. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is said to be coming in at 8-inches and thanks to tablet.bg, a Bulgarian website, some light has been shed on the tablet’s pricing. Or has it?
The Bulgarian website is an etailer for electronics over in Bulgaria and they’ve gotten word on the Note 8.0’s price, which they say is going to be 699 Bulgarian leva for a WiFi model, which works out at around €359. The iPad Mini costs €349 for 16GB of storage. Of course, these are just conversions and they’re likely to be a little inaccurate but, €10 is hardly much of a difference, is it?
Where we all thought Samsung would be competing on price, it looks like they’re going to be competing on value. The iPad Mini is a nice device, but it’s also heavily overpriced if you were to ask most people. With a 1024 x 768 screen resolution and an older chip from Apple it doesn’t exactly scream value when you compare to the superior Nexus 7. We’ve heard a lot about the Note 8.0 but the all important specs feature a 1.6 Ghz quad-core CPU, a 1280 x 800 screen resolution and it’s more than likely going to feature removable storage, which still continues to be popular nowadays. All-in-all it looks like a much better value package and Android fans will be have a hard time staying away from this tablet.
Whether or not the average consumer will take this over the iPad Mini is something that remains to be unseen, having said that the Note 8.0 is shaping up to be an attractive option, indeed. With Samsung apparently not holding a press event at MWC there is worry that their new line of tablets won’t be shown off there but, we have a feeling that Samsung might just come along for the ride anyway.
