So, it looks like Google is tired of waiting in the long security lines to go to places like Las Vegas for CES, or Barcelona for Mobile World Congress. So how can Google fix that problem? Why not build your own private Airport right? That’s just what Google is doing.
According to Mineta San Jose International Airport, Signature Aviation and Blue City Holdings are getting ready to begin work on a $82 million, 92-acre privately owned airport to house Google’s massive fleet of aircraft. This includes enough space to hold a Boeing 737 and 767, along with all their smaller jets. Their new airport will also come with an executive terminal, aircraft servicing facilities and plenty of other fancy amenities. At the bottom of this post, you’ll see a gallery of concept pictures of what the Google-owned Airport will look like.
So perhaps with their own airport, Google can get more Nexus’ and Chromebooks into the US to sell? As it stands right now, the 8GB Nexus 4, is sold out again. The Samsung Chromebook has been sold out basically since it landed in the Play Store. Or maybe this is Google’s answer to Apple’s new headquarters they are building. The Cupertino competitor is building a new HQ and it’s going to be shaped like a Spaceship. Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to fly in and out of the Google-owned Airport (perhaps Google-port?).
I wonder if all Google employees will be able to fly out of this new airport, or if it’ll be just the execs, or even just for business related trips. Like flying to New York City to announce their new version of Android in the fall, and a new Nexus phone? Either way this is pretty cool.
How much would you love to be able to fly from and to this Google-owned Airport? I know I’d love it. It’ll probably be decked out with Android and Chrome OS devices. Let us know what you think about this Google Airport in the comments below.
