HTC One S Finally Updated to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 with Sense 4+ on WIND Mobile; Where are you T-Mobile?

Just about one-month after Canadian HTC One S users on Fido received their update to Android 4.1.1, many users on WIND are reporting that they have been receiving the update as well. While this is not the most recent version of Android, it is a very welcomed update for users of HTC’s One S.

Along with Android Jelly Bean version 4.1.1, Canadian One S users will also get a Sense update to Sense 4+. The biggest feature that you will notice will be Google Now. Google Now is an intelligent personal assistant developed by Google. Google Now displays information relevant to you as a specific Google user and displays that information to you in the form of  “cards”. You may receive cards pertaining to your G-mail, the current weather, your next meeting or commute, travel or flight information, or even the scores from your favorite sports teams. You may also be given information on local happenings. All of this happens without any input from you. It determines what information you would like to see based on your location information and your Google search history.

There are a few subtle UI updates here as well. In the camera app, you will now have text showing how many pictures you can take before your storage runs out and the same with the video recorder only with minutes of recorded video remaining. You will also get a sightseeing mode. This is where you can put the phone to sleep from the camera app, then can bypass the lock screen and go directly back into the camera for immediate shooting. In the gallery app you can now organise your shots by location or event. You will also have access to Flickr, Picasa, SkyDrive, Dropbox and other picture relevant apps from the gallery, the Music app will give you access to music relevant apps and movie related apps shortcuts will be available in the HTC Watch 2.0 app.

With almost all others having the Jelly Bean/Sense 4+ update for the HTC One S, it makes us wonder just when T-Mobile will finally roll out the update. We learned back in December that T-Mobile and HTC were in the beta testing phase for the update and would be rolling out soon. Usually the beta test/soak test phase is the last phase of testing and we expect a roll out around 3-4 weeks after that announcement. Hopefully word will come soon of a T-Mobile implementation of Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and Sense 4+ for the HTC One S.

If you are a WIND HTC One S user, let us know if you have received the latest update and what you think of it. If you are a T-Mobile user, keep a lookout here for the latest, or keep hitting that check for updates button on your HTC One S.
