Sony’s new HuaShan with model number C530x is probably going to be unveiled soon as the Xperia SP. The name “HuaShan” may or may not sound familiar to you. It was also the name of an HTC phone in China. There’s a list that appears to be from the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information’s website, also lists the Xperia L.
From recent reports, it looks like the Xperia SP is going to be the higher end device out of the two. It’s said to be featuring a 720p display along with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. Now the Xperia L is supposedly going to feature a FWVGA display with 480×854 pixels and a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor and run Android 4.1.2 – Jelly Bean. So it doesn’t really sound like either device will be coming to the US, and if they do, they’ll more than likely go to prepaid carriers.
After Sony announced the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL at CES last month, the Xperia SP and Xperia L could be those mid-range devices that most manufacturers like to throw in their lineup. There’s a good possibility that these devices could be shown off at Mobile World Congress, but don’t bet on them being formally announced at a press conference like the Xperia Z and ZL were in Las Vegas, since these look to be rather mid-range to low-end devices.
It also looks like the Xperia SP specs match up perfectly with the Xperia SL. Which would probably mean that they are the same device, but different variants. Normally that means some markets will get the Xperia SP and others will get the Xperia SL and some won’t get anything. Either way you can count on Android Headlines to bring you all the Android news from Mobile World Congress later this month. We’re definitely hoping that there’s some good stuff coming from Barcelona this year.
Anyone looking forward to what Sony might announce at Mobile World Congress later this month? They may not announce anything big since they did announce the Xperia Z and ZL at CES last month. Let us know in the comments what you think.
