One thing Android manufacturers often do is offer free accessories or other incentives to potential. This, is of course, an attempt to get customers to choose their smartphone over one of a competitor. Motorola on Thursday announced a new offer for potential smartphone buyers, and it’s one of the more impressive ones we’ve seen.
The now Google-owned company has announced that beginning today, it will give anyone buying one of its devices a free $50 Google Play gift card. The deal applies to a plethora of Motorola devices, including higher end models like the RAZR HD, and ones lower on the totem pole, such as the Electrify and Defy. Check out the full list below.
- DROID RAZR M
- DROID RAZR HD
- DROID RAZR MAXX HD
- DROID RAZR
- DROID RAZR MAXX
- DROID 4
- ATRIX HD
- ATRIX 2
- PHOTON Q LTE
- PHOTON 4G
- TITANIUM
- ADMIRAL
- ELECTRIFY M
- ELECTRIFY 2
- ELECTRIFY
- DEFY XT
unfortunately, there is one downside to this offer. Things are always too good to be true, right? In order to obtain your $50 Play Store gift card, you must send in a mail-in rebate. Yep, companies are still using that antiquated approval process. Once you fill-out and send in the rebate, you probably have at least a week or two long wait ahead of you. But hey, you can’t turn down free money.
Deal website SavvyShoppers combined the $50 gift card with device’s current price on Amazon to see just how much you’re actually paying for your new Motorola device.
- Droid RAZR MAXX HD – $99 ($49.99)
- Droid RAZR HD – $49.99 (Break even)
- Droid RAZR M – $0.01 (Make $49.99)
- Droid RAZR MAXX – $0.01 (Make $49.99)
- Droid RAZR – $0.01 (Make $49.99)
- Droid 4 – $0.01 (Make $49.99)
- Motorola Photon Q – $0.01 (Make $49.99)
While some people may argue that a Play Store store gift card is not as good as cold hard cash, it’s hard to argue with free money. If this is your first Android device, then you will probably end up spending quite a bit on your favorite apps anyway. If only it wasn’t for that pesky mail-in rebate…
Will be rushing out and buying a new Motorola device just to take advantage of this offer? Do you know of any other similar offers currently in effect? Let us know down in the comments!
