Next Generation HTC Droid DNA On Its Way As The DLXPLUS? Could It Be the HTC M7 for Verizon?

Another day, and another leak. This one is coming from Developer and HTC insider, @LlabTooFeR, who has appeared to leak specs of a new version of the HTC Droid DNA on Verizon. Who else remembers the codename “dlx” for the Droid DNA? That’s the same codename being used here making it the “DLXPLUS”. So is this a new Droid DNA or is it just Verizon’s HTC M7 variant? I’m leaning more towards the HTC M7 variant for Verizon.

The last time we heard of a rumor for the HTC M7 was that is is supposed coming to every US carrier, but it will be delayed for Verizon. Which is usual for Verizon. Anyone remember the Galaxy Nexus launch on Verizon? It was delayed several times. Looking at the specs, which are shown in the image below, we’ve got:

  • 4.7-inch 1080p display
  • 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB internal storage; expandable via micro SD card slot
  • 13MP rear-facing camera, 2.1MP front-facing camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS
  • Android Jelly Bean (Could be 4.1 or 4.2)
  • Sense 5.0

So there’s no mention of the battery size, and it’s interesting that HTC is opting for a micro SD card. Since they’ve been very adamant about customers not wanting a removable battery and expanded storage. I guess they finally saw the light. Again, according to @LlabTooFeR, this DLXPLUS is supposedly going to support all the networks that the Droid DNA currently supports, so that means LTE on Verizon. But did that really surprise you? By now we should know that none of the US carriers are going to sell a phone that doesn’t support their LTE network.

It’s probably a bit early for a Droid DNA refresh, but Verizon has done this before. Anyone remember the Droid Incredible 2 and Droid Incredible 4G LTE? The main differences between the two was 4G LTE. HTC is expected to announce the M7 at their event in London and New York City in just a couple weeks, so I guess we’ll find out then what this device is and when it’s coming to Verizon.

Anyone thinking of picking up the DLXPLUS? It’s got some great looking specs, aside from Sense.
