We’ve been talking about Google Glass for a long time. In fact, it was almost a year ago that Google demoed it. Last month Google held hackathons in San Francisco and New York City. Developers were able to pre-order their pair for a nice price of $1500. But if Google wants Project Glass to take off and everyone using them, they are going to need to be far cheaper than that. Or am I wrong?
We have also seen some nice looking videos of what Google Glass could do. We’ve even seen a cool way to play Ingress using Glass. Now that’s what I’d like to do with my pair. It’s no doubt that Google Glass is awesome, and many of us geeks would love to use and buy a pair or two. But what is Google Glass limited too? We don’t know a whole lot yet, just what Google has put out in their videos. But I’d expect it to be operating on a version of Android (that might be a bit far fetched, but one can hope right?). How cool would it be to be able to tell your glasses to open up Google+ and using your eyes you could scroll through your feeds? That’s just one thing that Google Glass can do, but we already know that Google is going to amaze us with these things.
Project Glass is supposedly going to be available to the masses in 2014, that’s just a year away. So we’re asking, how much would you pay for a pair? I’m sure $1500 is a bit much for most people, even most of us nerds. Of course a lot of things factor in here, like how often you’d need to replace them, if software updates come to your pair for years or not, etc. So in the comments below, let us know how much you’d be willing to pay, or how much you think Google needs to charge for them to be a big seller. I’d be willing to pick one up for $600-800, depending on all the functionality that comes with a pair of Project Glasses.
