When we heard that Google was holding two hackathons for their Project Glass earlier this year, we were all pretty excited, and were hoping that those developers that were attending would get to bring Project Glass home. But they didn’t. Today, Google Developers posted the results of their hackathons which took place in New York City and San Francisco in Late January and Early February.
Google Developers stated on their Google+ page that developers found nearly 80 new ways to use Project Glass. The Devs that took part in the Glass Foundry event saw their glass plaque’s level-up from “Explorers” to “Pioneers” and 8 tems of devs were even able to take home their Google Glass Explorer Edition. Of course, Google paid the $1,500 tab for these Project Glass units.
Google did mention that there could be some more Glass Foundries coming in the future, which we sure hope so. That will really help Google get more uses for Project Glass before it goes on sale. developers that are looking for more information about developing on Glass will have a chance on March 11th at SXSW which takes places in Austin, TX. Google will be in Ballroom A of the Austin Convention Center at 5pm that day. You can check out the source link below for information and some photos from the event.
The details of the Google Glass API are still rather confidential, which is expected. Especially since Google made developers sign that scary NDA.
