Good day to you AH faithful. This morning we found a rumor deep in a ten-gallon drum of salt. It is of a new phone that will apparently use the new foldable display technology that Samsung recently unveiled at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show last month. Could they already be breaking this technology out for public use? A post by MobileGeeks.De seems to paint the picture of just that.
Many companies have been testing the waters when it comes to new technologies that will push the mobile landscape forward at breakneck speeds. One of these revelations come from our friends over at Samsung and the latest rumor is pointing us in a direction that suggests that this new technology may just appear much sooner than earlier thought, maybe even as soon as Mobile World Congress later this month. The technology that I speak of is, of course, Samsung’s foldable display that was revealed at CES and thought to exist as early as before the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 last year. Therefore, I must reiterate that you remember the salt that stories such as this come along with.
As for the juicy stuff, this may not be the foldable display of your dreams as you won’t be able to roll your phone up like a scroll or fold it like a treasure map and stick it in your breast pocket. This though, if true, would be a nice move in the right direction for this new technology. With the Samsung GT-B9150, to be called the Samsung Galaxy Q, along with its rumored foldable display also come a populace of rumored specs.
The Galaxy Q is rumored to have a dual Super AMOLED display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and would fold in two. This is where the salt comes in, and remember that foldable display and flexible display may be used in interchangeable context or might be completely different things when it comes to this rumored device. The device would be powered by a 1.7 Ghz dual-core Exynos 5250 processor. While it is no octa-core, it should be able to keep things moving along quite nicely. That said, the Galaxy Q would also have 2GB of RAM that would aid in keeping the device very snappy and a 3,500 mAh battery that should get this dual-screened gadget through the day. On the front-facing side, a 2MP camera will ensure that your Skype calls will have a very presentable resolution, while on the rear side you will have the 8MP shooter that has become the standard for most mobile devices that are not on the lowest end of the spectrum. All of this will be running around Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and come with a heaping side of salt.
