As time goes on, and Google I/O draws ever nearer there are more details coming out surrounding what could be the next Nexus smartphone from Google. Dubbed the Nexus 5, there’s word that the device will feature a 5-inch display with that all important Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080. The first rumored specs for the device certainly sounded a little off, and something we might not be seeing for some time to come but, PhoneArena have been tipped with information that could point to the main selling point of the next Nexus. Not mind-boggling specs but, the ability to take mind-blowing pictures.
PhoneArena have been informed by a tipster that the Nexus 5 could well feature Nikon branding when it comes to its imaging capabilities. That certainly sounds pretty impressive but, what’s more interesting is that Google seem pretty dedicated to bringing better imaging to their Nexus line, as Vic Gundotra recently spoke of on G+:
That was from last month and the tipster describes the new imager as a “triple sensor thing” and describes it as “better than everything else.” Whether or not there’s any truth to what the tipster says is something that time will decide on but, it would make sense for Google to go after Nikon if they were looking to bring something revolutionary to mobile imaging. Not only are Nikon a big brand in Digital Imaging period but, they’ve also produced their own Android camera so they might be the strangers to Google that they seem like.
The tipster also revealed some more specs that could be in the device as well, like a Snapdragon 600 CPU, a 5-inch Full HD display, 2GB of RAM and 8/16 GB of storage, with a 3140 mAh battery. That’s a battery similar to that in the Optimus G Pro. It wouldn’t surprise us if Google were to work with LG again and riffing off of the Optimus G Pro line is probably beneficial for both parties.
