Google Fiber Adds A Pair Of 3D Channels For Their Kansas City Customers

Google fiber TV is one of if not the most sought after of all the services that Google has to offer. The one problem? It’s only available in two cities, Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. The lack of available customers isn’t stopping the fledgling subscription service from adding channels to it’s ever growing catalogue however, and with Google being a bleeding edge type of company they have just added a pair of 3D ones.

The company announced yesterday that both 3net and ESPN 3D will be available immediately with the former being free on channel 338, while the latter will run customers a $5 subscription fee. From the Google press release:

“We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again — we’re committed to making these qualities that you’ve come to expect from Google Fiber TV better and better. And, thanks to the amazing capacity of Fiber, we can also include some new experiences and tools that will make watching TV even cooler. For example, 3D channels.”

For the uninitiated, 3net is a channel that features original three-dimensional programming that carries an “extensive library” of shows covering natural history, documentary, action/adventure, kids and family, lifestyle and cuisine, concerts, movies scripted series, etc. ESPN 3D on the other hand has the bragging rights of being “the industry’s first 24/7 3D sports network”, and seriously, if you aren’t familiar with ESPN’s brand by now then you probably aren’t the type of person that the network is geared towards anyway.

For those of you who are unaware Google offers three different tiers of service in the two Kansas Cities, all of which should be enticing to even the Google haters out there.
