This week, we found out that Google had indeed chosen their winners for the #IfIHadGlass competition. Those that won got the chance to give Google $1500 for an “Explorers” edition of the Google Glass. There were many people that entered the competition, some were pretty vulgar and they won. Say what? Well today, Google released a statement on Google+ saying:
With #ifihadglass we set out to find a truly diverse group of Explorers, and that’s certainly what we’ve gotten. We need honest feedback from people who are not only enthralled and excited by Glass, but also people who are skeptical and critical of it. That said, it’s become clear that a few applications that don’t comply with our terms have slipped through the cracks, and we’re going to have to disqualify applications like these. As for the rest of you, please keep that feedback coming — it’s all in the Explorer program spirit!
Google’s terms for this contest were that you are 18 years or older when you submitted your entry, must be a member of Twitter or Google+ and remain a member until at least June 1, also you must be located in the US, and that Puerto Rico and other US Territories and Countries are not eligible to enter. As we already stated, just because you win, doesn’t mean you get a free pair of glasses. You have to pay the $1500 price tag for your set and be able to get to New York or California for events.
During the competition we saw some entries that we hoped wouldn’t get in. But who know’s, hopefully those who were creative will now get an invitation for Google Glass. We’ll be sure to let you know if anyone here gets chosen to receive an Explorers edition of Project Glass.
