The Google TV platform may not be quite the success that Google intended it to be, but that is no matter. Google intends to flesh out the platform a little more, and hopefully we’ll see it improve for the better.
According to the Google TV Developers, more news on the platform is yet to come. At this point, we have utterly no clue what the future holds for the platform, but a cryptic announcement like this is nothing new in the industry. Check out the image below, which shows off the GTV announcement, that was originally made on Google+ last week.
The rest of the report clearly talks about the Google I/O event and what’s in store for those attending. You’ll also notice that it talks about a new child care service, which will be available during the event for attendees. It seems silly to bring your children along while attending, but I’m sure it happens.
Let’s get back to talking about Google TV, though.
Many have speculated that the platform was nearing an end. There was good reason for believing so since the platform has seen little support over the past year. It was all but forgotten at last years Google I/O event.
As Google so clearly mentioned, that is about to change. We have even seen evidence that Google TV will be getting more support. More recently, the platform was upgraded to V3, which included some needed improvements like Google Voice Search.
Will we see new set-top boxes? Is Google launching a Nexus compatible TV service? Are they going to introduce exclusive content like Netflix is now doing? No one knows yet, and at this point, the sky is the limit. If you have any predictions for what’s coming, feel free to share them in the comments below. The AH community will surely appreciate hearing any additional news or rumors on the subject.
Google I/O kicks off on May 15th and continues through May 17th. Stay tuned here at Android Headlines for more news regarding the event, and for whatever information is revealed about Google TV.
