In 2012, Samsung Spent $401 Million Just Marketing their Galaxy Brand

That’s a lot of cash. In fact, that’s almost more then what most other Android OEM’s made in profit last year. Which is why Samsung is running away with their market share. Samsung has really done a great job marketing in 2012. You literally couldn’t look anywhere without seeing a Galaxy S3 advertisement. Which it all started with the “Samsunged” commercials which I thought were pretty funny and spot on. Let’s take a moment and check one of those out:

Then there was also their Super Bowl commercial that we saw last month, which isn’t included in that $401 million that was spent in 2012:

To put this number into perspective, Apple only spent $330 million on their boring ad campaigns in 2012. We already know that just about every other Android OEM out there didn’t spend anywhere near that much in advertising and marketing in 2013. Although some like HTC, have said that will change in 2013. How many of you remember “The Next Big Thing” that they used when the iPhone 5 came out? Samsung’s social accounts were really taking it to Apple last fall, and it was pretty amusing to watch.

It’ll be interesting to see how much Samsung and the other manufacturers out there spend on ad campaigns in 2013. We’ll also be wondering how much Apple will be spending, since the majority of their commercials are all pretty much the same. Highlighting one or two features of the device in each commercial, pretty boring right? Samsung will probably spend a good $400 million just marketing the Galaxy S4, not to mention the Galaxy Note 3, and their flagship tablets that will be coming out later this year. Like the Galaxy Tab 3, and Galaxy Note 2 10.1 (or whatever they decide to call it), and we already have the Galaxy Note 8 coming out soon.

Wouldn’t you love to see other manufacturers advertising their products this much? I know I’d especially like to see HTC market the HTC One like this.
