Jelly Bean Now Rolling Out to the Sony Xperia TL on AT&T

AT&T finally flipped the switch on letting Jelly Beans loose on to your Xperia TL a.k.a. the James Bond phone. Just last week, the HTC One X began receiving their Jelly Bean update, and today the Xperia TL will follow. This update will bring the Xperia TL a bit more up to date, although still an Android version behind. But users will notice a few new key features like Google Now, enhanced notifications and Project Butter. Now AT&T’s blog post about the update says that there is a new data usage calculator in Jelly Bean, which will let you set a monthly limit. That is actually an Ice Cream Sandwich, so I’m not sure if AT&T or Sony left it out when the Xperia TL was released or not.

AT&T has also added their AT&T DriveMode app, so you’re getting more bloatware with this update, aren’t you excited? I didn’t think so. The AT&T DriveMode is an app that helps you to stop texting while your driving. The app can be set up to automatically send a customized reply to incoming messages when the vehicle is traveling at at least 25mph. But you have to wonder how much of an impact this will have on everyone that is texting while they are driving?

Anyways you can grab the update now by doing the following:

  • Go into Settings
  • Tap on About Phone
  • Tap on Software Update
  • Next follow the instructions on your screen

AT&T also says that they are looking forward to rolling out Jelly Bean on more devices in the coming months. So we might see a few more updates to Android 4.1 very soon. How many of you own the Xperia TL on AT&T? Have you received the update? What do you like/dislike about this update? Let us know in the comments below.
