Leak: Huawei Ascend G700; Cheap Android Phone for the Chinese Market

Leaks, nothing new really. But we need to urge you to take these with a grain of salt as these things will more than likely change before launch or turn out to be completely fake. Evleaks has once again leaked another image of an upcoming Android phone. This one is the Huawei Ascend G700. After Mobile World Congress was all said and done, we saw the Ascend G710 leak which was very similar to this device. Now the G700 is appearing online.

The render above was posted on @evleaks twitter account not to long ago. You may remember @evleaks, they are a pretty popular leaker these days. With a very good track record. As far as I can remember he’s only been wrong once, and that was with the Galaxy S4. Now Engadget has added some details for this leak includeing a 5-inch “HD” probably 720p display with 2GB of RAM and a MediaTek quad-core processor. We’re looking at a possible price of $300 unlocked. Which would put it well below the newly announced Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate. The Ascend Mate is that 6.1-inch phablet that Huawei showed off at CES earlier this year.

These specs do actually line up with the Ascend G710 that was leaked earlier this month. But the design is a bit different. Of course the names are pretty similar, with no surprise. We’re expecting both the G700 and G710 to slide into price points right next to each other, leading up the Ascend Mate, Ascend P2 and Ascend D2. Which are their three flagship-ish devices for 2013.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a US launch. This is more than likely just heading to China. Which is unfortunate, especially since Huawei wants to make a splash into the US market. If the Ascend G700 made it into the US or any other markets, would you pick it up?
