Magic Radio Introduced by DoubleTwist; Cue the Bad Play Store Reviews….

Today, doubleTwist announced and launched their new streaming music app, Magic Radio. DoubleTwist is one of those oldies but goodies apps out there. It’s got over 10 million downloads according to Google Play and has 4.4 stars on average for their rating. Today’s update put the app at version 2.0 and introduced Magic Radio.

So what exactly is Magic Radio? Well it’s supposedly going to seamlessly blend your current on device music library with new music which is tailored to your musical tastes from over 13 million songs. The service is ad free and lets you find a station for your genre or your every mood. Of coursethere are a couple of catches, one being that the service costs $3.99, and that’s US only. So as usual those outside of the US are stuck without the good stuff.

Then if you go ahead and check out the reviews for DoubleTwist on the Play Store, there are a lot of unhappy customers. It appears that many people are not to happy about this new service from DoubleTwist and many of them want the free internet radio option that they had previously offered. Instead of them leaning towards the subscription service they are attempting to push.

So if you’re one of those that liked or even used DoubleTwist’s free internet radio service, you’ll want to hold off on the update. Unless you are in the US and don’t mind parting with $3.99. But there’s no word on how long the previous app and internet radio service will be around. So you may end up losing it sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, you can head over to the Play Store and check out the app. It might be something you’d like to try out. Doesn’t hurt to try it right? Let us know in the comments below what you think of the new Magic Radio product from DoubleTwist. Is it worth the $3.99 price?
