Before we get started with the latest round of Nexus 5 rumors, it’s important that we remind you to take these rumors with a grain of salt. These could be true, these may not be true. Lately we’ve seen rumors go both ways. Now that’s out of the way.
The Nexus 5 is what everyone is calling the next generation Nexus phone. We don’t know if it’ll have a 5-inch display or not though. It’s said that Google isn’t looking to compete with all the other 5-inch 1080p phones out there on the market. Instead Google is going to be offering a more compact size and focus on the camera performance, at least according to Phone Arena’s Anonymous tipster today.
Their information is showing that the next Nexus will be skipping the 1080p display and launch with a 4.5-inch 720p IPS display which will take up 88% of the front of the phone. Which would mean it’ll have the thinnest bezels out of any other phone on the market right now. Some of the keywords the tipster gave Phone Arena today was “Compactness, huge battery life and great camera”. That’s basically all our complaints with the current and past Nexus phones right?
It’s said that this Nexus will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, which will be clocked at 1.5GHz and come with a 2800mAh battery. Now to keep that in perspective, the Galaxy S4 has a 2600mAh battery, and the Galaxy Note 2 has a 3100mAh battery. So for a 4.5-inch display at a 720p resolution, battery life should be amazing. In addition, Google is supposedly bringing a 9-megapixel CCD camera to the Nexus 4. Which would be pretty strange since almost every camera including those in smartphones use a CMOS sensor that is quicker to process images.
So that’s all that Phone Arena shared today. Could they be true? Possibly. But we won’t know until Google officially announces the Nexus, which will most likely be this fall, with the next iteration of Android, possibly Android 5.1. But in the meantime, feel free to drool all over these rumors and specs. Who wouldn’t love a Nexus with amazing battery life? So do you think these rumors are true?
