Press to Continue Development After Google Reader Closes Doors

Users that have relied heavily on Google Reader and apps to sync with it as their primary manner in which to get news on Android might know Press. The application launched on Android a little while ago and at first, we all thought that it was just another RSS reader, which it is. But there are a lot of things that makes Press one of the better RSS apps on Android. Not only is it brilliantly designed and makes reading text far easier than other apps, it’s also very fluid and utilizes swipes and pulls to great effect.

When Google announced that they were shutting down Reader, many of us wanted to know what would be happening to all of these apps that we rely on and Press is an app that a lot of people are very happy with it. It stands to reason that Press will continue to develop their app even when Google Reader is no more. If you open up the app on your Android device you might this message, which quickly and easily lets us know that Press will be working on their own syncing method:

Essentially, Press are letting us know that there will still be a Press, once Google has shut down Google Reader. From the looks of it, they might well be going the same route that Feedly has done and engineer a sort of trasnition. Personally, Press is my main way to get RSS on my Android devices, I find it a lot better than Google Reader and all others in a number of ways. It’d be nice to think that I can still have the same experience I’m now grown accustomed to once Google have given up on Reader.

“We believe in RSS news”, there’s always going to be a place in thw world of RSS, no matter how easy it becomes to discover news via the social web. Some of us just want a better way of doing things and those that use it for research and the like will need something laser-focused like RSS has always been.
