Samsung Galaxy S4 Works as a TV Remote Using Built-in IR Blaster with 'WatchOn'

Samsung has just introduced their new Samsung Galaxy S4, and they are still going through all the new features of their 2013 flagship device. But one feature we are already sorta familiar with is the IR blaster. Just a few weeks ago, when HTC announced their flagship device the One, it had an IR blaster which can work as a remote control for most TV’s. Now the Galaxy S4 also has one. This would make it the second phone to have an IR blaster.

With this new feature, you can go ahead and control your media center directly from your phone, but also check current TV programs, as well as discover on-demand content with Samsung’s Media Hub, and purchase it straight from your phone. Then watch your newly purchased content on your TV or your Galaxy S4. Back at Mobile World Congress a couple weeks ago, Samsung was calling it Video Discovery, now they are calling it WatchOn. So far it doesn’t appear to change much from what we saw on the Galaxy Note 8.0 last month in Barcelona.

Don’t forget to check out the official specs of the Galaxy S4, as well as how it stacks up to other flagship 2013 phones like the Xperia Z, and HTC One. and let us know what you think of the new device in the comments below.
