Sony Prepping 5-inch Cyber-Shot and Walkman Phones?

Either Sony’s PR department are having a bad week when it comes to leaks or someone is taking the tech press for a ride. At this point it could be anything but, if all these rumors that are doing the rounds turn out to be true then Sony could well be up to something really special throughout 2013. We’ve heard rumors of them expanding their Xperia line-up with Snapdragon 600 devices, which sounds a lot like Sony, as well as an affordable 1080p smartphone coming later in the year. Now, there are rumors that Sony are preparing Xperia Android device that would tie-in with two of their biggest product lines over the years; the Cyber-Shot and Walkman brands.

PhoneArena have been tipped off to the company preparing devices for later on the year that will bring all the features from the Cryber-Shot and Walkman brands that we know and love. Here’s what their tipster had to say:

Apart from the xperia A, UL, and Phablet launching in summer… There are three more parallel flagships coming in Q3.

1. This one is 5-inch Xperia Cyber-Shot. It will be equipped with best camera so far in smartphones. With sensor size almost equal to pureview 808 and carl zeiss optics it will stand out from the rest of the crowd. Other specs will be top of the line. Also, the waistline of the phone is well within limits.

2. This one is 5 inch Xperia Walkman. It will come with integrated amplifier chip and all other goodies of Sony Walkman series and same top specs.

3. This one is a direct iPhone competitor in a small form factor and small screen size with camera and other specs same as Xperia Cybershot.

That’s a nice list for things to come in future Sony smartphones, I think we’d all like to see a smartphone with much better imaging capabilities, right? If there was ever a time for it to happen, it looks like 2013 is going to be that time. The Walkman aspect of this is pretty interesting as well, it seems like the market is moving towards devices with much better sound reproduction and if anyone could do it properly, it’d be Sony. I’m all for better imaging in my smartphone after all, they say that the best camera is the one you have with you; and what do we all in our pockets these days?
