Sprint Killing the Optimus G Already? Possibly in Favor of the Optimus G Pro?

Our good friends at XDA have a thread where multiple posters are claiming that Sprint is cutting off the shipments of LG’s 2012 flagship Optimus G. it also states that the Optimus G has reached EOL (End of Life) which means it would be discontinued soon. The image you see above was posted on XDA by one of their users. It appears that the Optimus G isn’t the only device that has hit EOL. It includes the Galaxy S2, and a few other devices you probably won’t be familiar with.

Now we do know about the Optimus G Pro. We know it’s coming to the US as well, but we don’t know when it’s coming or what carriers it’s coming too. So possibly Sprint is moving the Optimus G out the door to make room for the Optimus G Pro soon? We know they need room for the Galaxy S4, and the HTC One. The Optimus G has only been available for about 6 months, while the Galaxy S2 has been available for nearly two years now.

The Optimus G Pro is a great looking device with some great specs, and if it is indeed coming to Sprint. Then they’ve landed yet another great device. Here’s the specs for the Optimus G Pro:

  • 5.5-inch  1080p display 1920×1080 resolution
  • Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.7GHz
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 32GB of internal storage; Micro SD card slot
  • 13MP rear camera; 2.1MP front camera
  • 3140mAh battery
  • Android 4.1

So as you can see, it’s not at all a bad device. In fact I’d love to make it my next device, if it had stock Android. Bringing the Optimus G Pro to Sprint would be great for LG. How many of you would pick up the Optimus G Pro? How many of you have the Optimus G? Are you surprised to have the Optimus G seeing end of life already? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
