Turn Your Favorite Website into a 3D Game With Chrome's World Wide Maze

This wouldn’t be the first time that Google has come up with some kind of fun way to show off just how powerful Chrome sync has become, does anyone remember Super Sync Sports? Well, they’re back with Chrome World Wide Maze which, essentially turns your favorite website – or any website for that matter – into a 3D maze, and to navigate your way around the maze you have to tilt your Android phone. It basically makes a game out of a website and turns your phone into the requisite controller.

It’s a whole lot of fun and, of course, I recommend you turn Android Headlines – that’s androidheadlines.com – into a maze and give it a try. If your Android phone doesn’t run Chrome you can still play without syncing the two together but, it’s not going to be anywhere near as much fun. To give the game a try, you’ll have to have the latest Desktop version of Chrome installed and be running Android 4.0 and above, of course. We’d also assume that you need to have an up-to-date version of Chrome for Android installed as well.

Head to the site on your smartphone first, and then open up “Other Devices” from the New Tab page on the Desktop, and select the Chrome Maze tab from your smartphone. It’s worth noting that you need a relatively quick connection in order to make this run smoothly. Definitely not something to try over Sprint’s 3G network. I gave it a go on Android Headlines and it was a nice bit of fun, it took some time getting used to the controls but, once you do, there’s no stopping you really. Take a look at the video from Google below:

You’ve got to hand it Google, there’s nothing really practical about this but, there’s no denying it’s a good way of showing off how good Chrome Sync has become. I use Tab Sync a lot, flitting from my Nexus 7, to my Chromebook, to my desktop etc etc. Seeing as I do pretty much everything on the web, it makes things a whole lot easier. Give the game a go and let us know what you think in the comments.
