I’ll be honest, these days when a market analyst makes a statement or prediction I just roll my eyes. There are so many of them blabbing at any given time, that it’s gotten quite difficult to sort out the sources that know what they’re talking about from the ones who don’t.
As it would turn out, analysts are estimating some impressive sales figures for the Sony Xperia Z. However, Sony has yet to release any official information on the matter.
According to analysts, Sony has sold more than 4.6 million units in just 40 days. If these numbers are correct, then Sony has obviously been successful with their latest flagship.
Sony has done a formidable job marketing the device, ever since it was announced earlier this year at CES. That could be one of the primary reason for their success, but it’s also possible that early availability was another reason. For example, the HTC One is still about a month away from being available to consumers while the Galaxy S4 isn’t scheduled to launch until the end of this month. The Xperia Z, on the other hand, has been available for quite some time now. It’s likely the jump start is the culprit of their success.
Even better, is the fact that the Xperia Z is an impressive device when pitted against the competition. It includes the following specs, in addition to that attractive design:
- 1.5GHz quad-core processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB of internal storage with MicroSD expansion slot
- 12-megapixel camera (Exmor ES Lens)
- Dust and water-proof certifications
- 4G LTE support
- NFC functionality
- 2330 mAh battery capacity
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
The Sony Xperia Z truly is the only 5-inch flagship on the market right now, and with such little competition coupled with Sony’s excellent marketing, it’s no wonder the thing is selling so well. The real test will be when the other flagship devices hit the market. It will certainly be fascinating to see if Sony does so well up against the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. Of course, these numbers have yet to be confirmed by Sony in an official capacity. These analysts could be way off in terms of sales.
