The founder and CEO of OUYA, the android-powered gaming console, Julie Uhrman has posted in a blog post with the roadmap for console’s shipping out to Kickstarter backers. It’s always great to see a company working like this, especially with a new product. This new roadmap shows and explains that they have changed on of their partners to sped up the production by a couple of days. They’ve also put a few more OUYA reps on the ground to speed things up even more.
To make a long story short, Kickstarter backers of OUYA can expect to see their OUYA Console on their doorstep by the end of next month. Which would be just in time for when the retail units hit store shelves in June. Currently, you are able to pre-order from Amazon, but you’ll still have to wait until at least June before you see it in your hands.
There might be some changes between the Kickstarter version and the retail version. But they’ll mostly be software changes, at least that’s what I think. There are already hundreds of games available on the OUYA, and more being added every day. We should start seeing reviews of the OUYA coming online shortly, since some people already have their console. We haven’t received ours yet.
How many of you have already received your OUYA console? Care to share your thoughts in the comments below? We really like the idea of OUYA, it’s a cheap console running on Android. So instead of paying $50 or more per game, you’ll be paying a lot less thanks to OUYA. Now who can argue with that? Especially since the PlayStation 4 will probably be around $400 in addition to the $50 or more for each game. How many of you are planning on picking one up when OUYA hits retail in June?
