Late last week we had heard a rumor that LG was planning a press event for May 1st where we suspected they would announce the LG Optimus G Pro for the US. Today, LG started sending out invites to the press about this event where the tagline is “Share the Genius”. This definitely sounds like the Optimus G Pro. The tagline is probably to do with the software features on the Optimus G Pro. Of course, LG is always happy to tell you they had these features before their Korean neighbor/competitor Samsung. Although many people think it’s just a competitor to the Galaxy Note 2, which is kinda late. LG announced the Optimus G Pro back before Mobile World Congress and it has some really nice specs.
- 5.5-inch Full HD Display (1920×1080 resolution) / 5.0-inch display in Korea
- 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
- 2GB or DDR RAM
- 32GB internal storage; Expandable via microSD card slot
- 13MP rear-facing camera; 2.1MP front-facing camera
- 3,140mAh battery
- Android 4.1.2 – Jelly Bean
- 150.2×76.1×9.4mm dimensions
There’s also the “Capture the Spotlight in True Brilliance” which definitely fits into the Optimus G Pro’s beautiful 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display. Which should definitely look better than the display on the Galaxy Note 3, unless Samsung decides to go with something other than AMOLED. So we’ll be setting our calendars for May 1st and check out what LG has in store for us in the US. Hopefully we’ll see the Optimus G Pro hitting more than just one carrier. As always we’ll be bringing you all the details about LG’s announcement.
How many of you are hoping for the Optimus G Pro? I’m definitely hoping to see the Optimus G Pro hitting at least the four major carriers, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. But who knows. What do you think about this press event? Let us know in the comments down below.
