CyanogenMod Introduces Hands-Free Photos; Coming to Nightly Near You Soon!

Is there any feature CyanogenMod won’t come up with? Or for that matter, the Android community. We’ve seen CyanogenMod come up with some pretty cool features as of late. There’s the CM Updater, M monthly builds, and so many other features they’ve brought to us. Including bringing Paranoid Android’s Pie controls to their ROM, not to long ago. Today, CyanogenMod sort of showed it off on their Google+ page. It actually looks rather slick. I know I can’t wait to check it out.

As you can see, you can use trigger words like “Cheese” to trigger the shutter. The popup on the image above also says you can use “whiskey” now who wouldn’t use that? If you ask me, that’s pretty damn cool. Maybe with this new feature we’ll see less people taking bathroom pics on Instagram, although I doubt that would die. We could see some rather interesting pictures popping up soon once this is implemented.

CyanogenMod doesn’t often mess with the camera, but when they do it becomes better than before. You can thank CyanogenMod maintainer +Ricardo Cerqueira for working on this. Although I doubt that he was alone in working on this feature, so let’s thank the entire team!

For those of you that like to flash ROMs, or are running CyanogenMod nightlies, you should see this coming soon in a nightly for your device. Of course it’ll probably hit Nexus devices first since those are the easiest to build for. Let us know in the comments below what you think of this new feature from CyanogenMod. I’ll definitely be interested in checking this out on my Nexus 4 and possibly my Nexus 7 when it is available.
