Who wants some Google Fiber? On second thought that was a dumb question, we all want some Fiber. For those that don’t know what Google Fiber is, it’s Google’s adventure into being an ISP. Google Fiber offers 1GBPS download and 1GBPS upload. So it’s definitely something we all want. Google Fiber is currently only available in Kansas City.
Today, the City of Austin sent out a bunch of invitations to an event next week, but they declined to provide details on what they’d be announcing. City officials are staying quiet, there are sources saying that the announcement could involve expanding Google Fiber. But the announcement could be plans for a new Austin-based Google campus or even some partnerships to involve the city with a new Google service. While we don’t know for sure what will be announced but we do know it’s good news for the city of Austin.
Here’s what the invitation says:
On Tuesday, April 9, at 11 a.m., the City of Austin and Google will make a very important announcement that will have a positive impact on Austinites and the future of the city.
