By now everyone should know that the Galaxy S4 has two main variants. The Exynos 5 Octa-powered I9500 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-powered I9505. The Snapdragon variant is going to be the more popular of the two and launching in more countries than the Exynos 5 Octa version. Today, the head of Samsung, JK Shin stated that customers should not be worried about which processor is powering their Galaxy S4. Although we’ve seen benchmarks of the Exynos 5 Octa and it blows away the Snapdragon 600. Shin went on to say that most people won’t notice the difference. Which he is probably right in that regard.
Shin also went ahead and denied the speculation that the reason why the Snapdragon 600 is in the Galaxy S4 is due to LTE. It’s the same thing that happened last year with the Galaxy S3. The International variant got a quad-core Exynos 4 powered chip while those of us in the US got a Snapdragon S4 that was dual-core, but we did get an extra gigabyte of RAM. But we also know that now the Exynos 5 Octa does support LTE. Shin went on to say that the reason they used two different processors was based on supply and demand. Although that worked out well right? The Galaxy S4 is being delayed on multiple carriers here in the US.
So basically, long story short Shin says that you won’t be able to notice which device you have. They both will be speedy and beastly. Which we can confirm. The Snapdragon 600 is a beast of a processor, and we know that the Exynos 5 Octa will too. But we all wanted to be able to say we have an 8-core processor in our phone right?
What are your thoughts on what Mr Shin said? Do you agree that the performance won’t be too different between the two devices? Let us know in the comments below.
