Possible Galaxy Tab 3 Specs Leak Out; 8-inch Variant Looks Certain

There has been much discussion recently over what Samsung will do for the next iteration of its Tab line of Android tablets and now it looks like we have some semi-credible information to pass along courtesy of techblog.gr . We have what are supposed to be mostly full specs as well as the leaked image you see above. The Galaxy Tab 3 will come in two variants, an 8-inch and a 10.1-inch. Again, the specs below are just rumors so far, so I wouldn’t take them as gospel but everything seems at least plausible, so here we go:

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, 10.1-inch

  • OS: Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
  • Processor: 1,5 GHz dual-core
  • GPU: ?
  • RAM: 1 GB
  • 3G / HSPA + of 4G / LTE
  • Display: 10,1 inch, 1280 — 800 pixels
  • Camera: 3 megapixel
  • Front Camera: 1.3 Megapixel
  • Storage: 16 GB
  • Micro SD
  • WiFi, DLNA, WiFi-Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro USB
  • Battery: 7000 mAh
  • Dimension 256,7 — 175,3 — 8,7 mm.
  • Weight: 533 g.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, 8-inch

  • OS: Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
  • Processor: 1,5 GHz dual-core
  • GPU: ?
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • 3G / HSPA + of 4G / LTE
  • Display: 8 inch, 1280 — 800 pixels
  • Camera: 3 megapixel
  • Front camera: 1.3 Megapixel
  • Storage: ?
  • Micro SD
  • Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro USB
  • Battery: 4500 mAh
  • Dimension: 112,1 — 209,6 — 6,95 mm.
  • Weight: 330 g.

There are a few interesting things we can glean from this information. First of all it seems odd that the 8-inch variant has 2GB of RAM where the 10.1-inch version has only 1 GB. It seems like there wouldn’t be much of a reason to give the larger size less RAM, unless Samsung is looking to come out with a seriously cheap 1o.1 inch tablet. This might not be entirely implausible since most of the major-brand budget tablets so far have been 7-inches. It could also be that whoever leaked this information made a mistake, only time will tell.

Personally, I’m a fan of expandable storage on mobile devices so it is encouraging to see that included on both variants. It is also interesting to see that the 8 inch Galaxy Tab 3 supposedly has a battery almost half the size of the battery for the 10.1 inch version. Again, this could well be accurate, but 4,500 mAh is a bit on the weak side for an 8-inch tablet, depending of course on exactly what CPU each of these devices end up with.

We will pass more information on to you as we get it. Stay tuned.
