Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab 3 just yesterday, but already some benchmarks have cropped up in the wild. Courtesy of a GLBenchmark, we now have some more detailed information about the Galaxy Tab 3’s hardware specs.
Apparently, at least according to the benchmarks, the Galaxy Tab 3 is running a Marvell PXA986 chipset equipped with 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor. It also includes a Vivante GC 1000 GPU which is a considerable boost over the PowerVR included in the previous model.
We all know benchmarks are not indicative of real world results, at least they’re not an accurate indication. That means we’ll have to wait for some more conclusive evidence when the first units start making their way into the consumer’s possession.
Here’s what we do know from the benchmark results:
- Maximum display resolution of 1024 x 600
- Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean pre-installed
- Minimum CPU frequency of 312MHz with maximum CPU frequency of 1205MHz
Clearly, the internal hardware isn’t top of the line but that’s okay it’s still a lot more advanced than what was included in the previous Galaxy Tab.
Let’s compare those specs with what Samsung recently announced:
- 7-inch LCD Display at 1024 x 600
- 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core CPU
- 1GB of RAM
- 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1.3-megapixel camera round front
- 8 or 16GB of storage, with microSD support
- WiFi and 3G: HSPA＋21 / 5.76 Quad 850/900/1900/2100 and 2G: EDGE/GPRS Quad 850/900/1800/1900
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 111.1 x 188.0 x 9.9mm at 302g(Wi-Fi), 306g (3G)
- 4,000 mAh Battery
So there you have it folks. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is going to be a mid-level tablet, designed for anyone with a budget in mind. If it’s anything like Samsung’s other Galaxy Tab devices than it’s certainly worthy of a purchase if you’re looking for a more reasonable tablet.
