Samsung Prepares for the Galaxy S4 Launch with Some New Commercials, Check 'Em Out

Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S4. We all know the big day is approaching ever closer, and there are some things happening that point to such. US Cellular now has a pre-order date for the S4, and AT&T has shown off some pricing information. Additionally, prices for the Galaxy SIII are starting to drop, which shows that a new model is on the way. In case you’re wondering AT&T and Verizon Wireless have dropped their Galaxy SIII prices for the time being.

Apart from all that commotion, Samsung also took the liberty of releasing several commercials showing off the Galaxy S4 in action. While we did see the new platform described in detail during the unpacked event, it’s always gratifying to see a more in-depth walkthrough of different features and functions. Samsung is well known for offering some pretty nifty proprietary apps on their Galaxy devices.

Three commercials have released thus far, showing off the S Translator, Group Play, and Sound Shot functions. I’ll admit, I wasn’t quite sure what Samsung had planned for some of these apps until now. The demo videos provide a more realistic example of how the new features will work.

First up is the new Group Play commercial. This particular function will allow Galaxy S4 owners to share audio in a group setting. Basically, when one user designates a song to play it’s transmitted to all connected devices. The commercial shows off some athletes preparing for a game by sharing in a group listening experience. It’s not exactly a key feature, but it’s pretty damn cool nonetheless. Although I find it hard to believe that a bunch of Basketball players would be listening to the song played in the commercial because… well, just watch it.

The next commercial shows off the extremely useful S Translator app. It will allow you to speak in your native tongue, and then translate that back to any language for full voice dictation. A popular setting for using this feature is to speak with someone from a different country. Seeing as everyone has been that silly tourist before, we all know how frustrating it can be when you cannot communicate properly with others. This app will help Galaxy S4 users find their way around and communicate in a foreign land.

The last commercial is for a function called Sound Shot. Have you ever looked at a photo or image, and wished that you could be in that spot again? With Sound Shot, you can record the surrounding ambiance along with a photo. That way, when you preview the photo at a later date it will feel just like you’re there again, in that moment. Personally, I think the idea is pretty cheesy, and I don’t actually see too many people using this function often, but I could be wrong. Check out the commercial and tell me what you think.
