The Samsung Galaxy S4 has plenty of great features, although some of us might call those feature gimmicks. But one of those features is Group Play, which was one of the features they demonstrated back at the launch event on March 14th. What Group Play does is it essentially lets one master device control a few others, creating group music playback with all the makings of a surround sound system. It also works with pictures and videos. It sounds really cool and looks really cool, but how often would you actually use it other than to show off how great your Galaxy S4 is to your friends.
The Group Play feature is also accompanied by playlists creation and sharing, and visualizations. You can check out the video at the end of this post to see how Group Play works in action. Galaxy S4 handsets are already out and about for reviews and such (although we don’t have one yet), so we aren’t surprised that we are seeing demo’s done by people not employed by Samsung.
There’s also word that Group Play will be heading to other Samsung devices in the near future. There is no official word yet as to which devices, but I don’t think we’d be too far off to say that Group Play will be heading to a Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 near you. Who knows, Group Play may end up on some other Samsung devices like the Galaxy S2, or their newly announced Galaxy Mega. But that’s all speculation.
How many of you are thinking about picking up the Galaxy S4 when it releases on your favorite carrier? The Galaxy S4 should be launching in the US sometime between this Wednesday and the end of May on respective carriers. T-Mobile has already confirmed April 24th, AT&T’s looking at April 30th, Sprint and Verizon haven’t confirmed launch dates yet. Let us know in the comments below what you think about this Group Play feature.
