The Asus ME302C 10 Inch Tablet Powered By Intel Shows Up In Benchmarks

I think at this point just about every Android fan has a soft spot in their heart for Asus and their tablets. I mean this is the company that gave us the Nexus 7, a device that even a year later still stands up with the best seven inch tabs out there in the market right now. But Asus isn’t a one trick Nexus producing pony however and as we await Google I/O and a refresh of that device, it’s important to remember that they do make other tablets that are surely worthy of our consideration.

It wasn’t all that long ago that we were talking about the Ausu FonePad, a hybrid device even bigger than what would traditionally be called a “phablet” because of it’s seven inch display. What also made the FonePad newsworthy was the collaboration between Asus and Intel in making the device. The Asus FonePad is powered by an Intel Atom Z2420 1.2GHz processor and a lot of the chatter was about how it would stack up with similar processors.

Well it seems as though Asus was pleased with how that first partnership worked out because it appears that there is another Intel Clover Trail+ based tablet in the pipeline, this one code named the Asus ME302C. This device, which looks to be a 10 inch tablet because of a display resolution showing 1920 by 1200 pixels, was recently caught in some benchmark results by Android Chaotic.

The ME302C will be powered by an Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.6GHz, presumably the Z2560 with PowerVR SGX 544MP graphics. Not much else is known about the tablet at this time other than that it will fall into the Eee Tab family of Asus devices. That could possibly mean that it will be a transformer type of tab where there will be a keyboard dock available which would allow for laptop capability as well as an extra battery for extended usage.

You may also recall another rumor from back in March that these two companies were working together on high end smartphones. The fact that this tablet has shown up in benchmarks using an Intel processor lends credence to that rumor as well. So while we don’t know much else other than a possible “June” release for this tablet, you can be sure that we will bring you updates on this device as soon as they come in.
