The Sony Xperia ZL Makes Its Way to Canada

While it’s not the Xperia Z, it’s the little brother (or is that big brother since the battery is bigger?) the Xperia ZL. This device brings “the best of Sony in your hand.” The Xperia ZL has some pretty decent specs as well.

  • 5-inch 1920×1080 resolution
  • 1.5GHz quad-core procesor
  • 13MP rear facing camera; 2MP front-facing camera
  • Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean
  • 16GB of internal storage
  • 2370mAh battery
  • Playstation certified
  • With 4G LTE
  • Dimensions: 131.6 x 69.3 x 9.8mm
  • Wirelessly share photos and music between devices, speakers and your TV

The Xperia ZL is currently available on Videotron for $199.95 as a “reduced price” and $599.95 for full retail. Rogers has it listed as $124.99 with a 3-year contract (yes that’s 36 months) and it’s $624.99 full price without a contract. Now Bell has it for $99.95 with a 3-year contract and $599.95 outright. So it appears that Bell has the best offer no matter which way you want to go, contract or contract free. The Xperia ZL is supposedly coming to Mobilicity, MTS and WIND Mobile in Canada as well.

So now what about the US? So far it appears that none of the US carriers will be getting the Xperia Z or ZL. Which is quite a shame, and not to smart on Sony’s side. Especially if they want to be a major player in the Android game. They can’t leave one of their largest markets without their flagship devices. At this point the only way you can get the Xperia Z in the US is buying it unlocked and using it on AT&T or T-Mobile. Hopefully Sony will change that soon.

How may of our Canadian readers are looking to pick up the Xperia ZL? Head to the comments below and let us know, also which carrier you’re looking to grab it from.
