Upcoming Acer Tablets: An iPad Mini Rival in June, an iPad Rival in August

Their tablet to be released in June was ‘accidentally’ leaked, and so rumors have circulated throughout the internet without any official statement from Acer. It’s also not very common knowledge that Acer is holding a private event to display their upcoming products in early May.

There have been recent leaks about Acer releasing a new tablet in June called the Iconia A1-810. Apparently on the company’s French web store the specifications were posted, it has since been removed from the site (naturally) but is estimated to ship out in June. This could be quite exciting… but rumors are rumors right? Wouldn’t we all want something more substantial than that?

Android Headlines have been invited to a private event showcasing the products that could be released in June, including this mysterious tablet. So if you want some solid details, be sure to keep your eyes peeled to our website in early May!

The Iconia A1-810:

So let’s take a look at the rumored specifications for this mini tablet.

  • 1.2GHz MediaTek MT8125 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core CPU
  • 1GB of RAM, 16GB of Flash memory
  • 1024 x 768-pixel resolution IPS panel screen
  • 7.9-Inch screen
  • 5-MP rear camera, VGA front facing camera
  • 199 Euro price, uncertain what the worldly prices will be

Taking into account the relatively low amount of power and the 7.9-Inch screen, the Iconia A1-810 appears to be a direct rival for the iPad Mini. They both have identical sized screens and the same pixel density. While the power specifications of the Acer are considerably better, it’s difficult to say which would be run smoother. We can only be certain once we test it.

What about the Tablet Coming in August?

Unfortunately we don’t have anything greater than rumors in the way of Acer’s tablet that will be released in August. What we do know is that Compal received the order to make the tablet, and that it will be a 10-inch tablet. They also aim to be shipping out up to 10 million units within the first month alone. Apart from that we seem to have little information, though it might be suggested that this tablet will be direct competition to the iPad, but there are no confirmed reports.

It appears that Acer want to take the tablet world by storm, but does their new tablet have enough to battle against Apple? I have my doubts with Acer’s questionable build quality, and their delayed updates, but I we’ll find out for sure in a few months.
