10. Copy
I know, I know. You’re thinking there are way too many cloud storage services out there and that’s true, but Copy just jumped back on the radar by offering 15GB of free storage space to combat Google’s new shared storage plan (Gmail, Drive and Google+ storage are now combined for a total of 15GB). Copy, on the other hand, offers some pretty unique features that you won’t find elsewhere. With referral links, you can gain even more storage for yourself and whoever signs up. In addition, there are unlimited file size uploads and unlimited free storage earning capabilities so keep passing out those referral links!
9. Jiffy
Jiffy is billed as a “time tracking tool conceived, designed and developed by people who need to track time for people who need to track time.” It makes use of an incredibly attractive, yet minimal design and allows users to manually track time. It’s a great tool for freelancers or anyone that needs to track the time spent on various activities. All of the tracked data can be easily read in customized charts and more.
8. Dreamboard
Ever have trouble remembering your dreams? Do you ever have the desire to analyze your dreams and monitor patterns related to them? Dreamboard will allow you to do just that. By recording your dreams and all details pertaining to them, you will grow a personal journal or what it’s called on Dreamboard a dream tree. You can even set reminders for yourself in case you forget to submit a journal entry for a day. I know it sounds weird, but once you use it you’ll appreciate the features and design. The UI is incredibly attractive too.
7. Ninja SMS
You know the whole Facebook Chat heads thing? In hindsight it was a great idea, but many people want to use the feature without installing Facebook home and the official Facebook apps. Paranoid Android is implementing a similar feature in their upcoming Android builds, but what about those of us who can’t flash custom roms? Ninja SMS is a messaging app that allows you to reply to text messages and read them without leaving the app you’re currently in. It includes a whole plethora of customization options like transparent windows, themes and more. You can have multiple windows open at one time, and they can all be dragged and dropped around the screen at will.
6. Flayvr
With Flayvr you can create beautiful and animated photo albums that can be shared with friends via a unique link or URL. It’s extremely simple to use too. All you have to do is select which photos you would like included in an album and the application automatically cycles through included photos. Flayvr will auto generate albums, in order to breathe some new life into old photos hanging around on your local storage. If you’re in the market for a more attractive image gallery, then you’ll want to give Flayvr a try!
5. Fabrik
Fabrik is one of the most attractive ereaders I’ve ever used, and I’ve gone through quite a few. It’s now my go-to ereader app on all of my devices. Of course, I’m sure you’re smart enough to figure out this app isn’t being recommended because of its aesthetics alone. It supports synching with Dropbox and Google Drive, both of which are cloud storage services. You can drop reading content into the related cloud storage directories and Fabrik will automatically upload your library and book covers appropriately. All settings including page progress, bookmarks and more are stored in the cloud, as well. You can access your Fabrik settings across multiple devices. Did I already mention that this app is gorgeous?
4. Schemes
Schemes is an elegant yet simple application that allows you to schedule various messaging and social networking tasks. It can be configured to automatically send text messages, emails, tweet and post status updates at distinct intervals. For example, it’s ideal if you want to send out a midnight text message wishing a friend or family member Happy Birthday. Most of its charm can be attributed to the Holo theme adopted throughout.
3. Hider+
Hider Plus is essentially a secret vault for SMS, call logs, photos and more. The genius of Hider is related to how the app is disguised. It appears on your device as Battery Saver Plus, and that includes visibility in the app tray and system app settings. When tapping on the icon it opens a fully functioning battery status widget, but tapping directly on the battery icon in the widget will open the vault. Of course, all hidden content is password protected so even if someone crafty does figure out what’s going on- they won’t be able to gain access to the vault unless they have the password.
2. Audiobox (Beta)
Audiobox is essentially a media aggregation and playback tool that allows you to listen to all of your audio content no matter where it’s stored. You can stream music from a wide variety of locations including local storage, cloud storage, from a desktop and more. In addition, you can mix tracks in playlists even across different platforms. This is a must have for audiophiles with their music and audio tracks spaced out across numerous platforms.
1. Hangouts
You knew this was coming. Sure, there are some blinding issues with the service but that doesn’t make it any less relevant. We’ve been covering Hangouts (Babel) here at Android Headlines for months, and now that’s it’s finally here we’re happy to be using it, quirks and all! In case you aren’t aware, Hangouts replaced Google Talk, Google+ Messenger and it will soon be replacing Google Voice. It’s a single cross platform (across Google’s services anyway) chat service similar to Whatsapp. Voice calling support and SMS messaging will soon be implemented for all users, as well. Check out this app if you haven’t already!
