Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 Press Shot Leaks Out; More Affordable Galaxy Note 8.0?

We’ve been hearing a lot about Samsung’s upcoming tablet plans for 2013 and while some of the pieces have already fallen into place with the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and the Galaxy Note 8.0, a lot is still unclear. Of course, a 7-inch and a 10.1-inch tablet are pretty much given at this point but, we’ve also been hearing a lot about an 8-inch tablet to feature in Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 line-up. Now a new picture of the device – which you can see above – that looks a lot like a press photo of the device has leaked out, giving us a much clearer look at what the tablet might become when it launches.

It obviously looks a lot like the Galaxy Note 8.0, which is to be expected. Speculation is that this is going to become a cheaper version of the Note 8.0 minus the S-Pen, no more, no less. Specs wise, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is said to be packing similar, but more pedestrian specs to the Note 8.0. Let’s take a look at the rumored specs:

  • 8-inch 1280 x 800 LCD Display
  • Dual-Core 1.5 Ghz CPU
  • 1.5GB RAM
  • 5MP rear-facing camera with 1.3MP front-facing camera
  • 8 or 16GB of storage with MicroSD support
  • WiFI, 3G and LTE models
  • Android 4.2.2 with Samsung’s latest TouchWiz skin on top, akin to that of the Galaxy S 4
  • 4,450 mAh battery

It’s said that Samsung are going to be taking off the wraps of their new tablet line-up next month, and so far it’s looking like they’re going to have more than just a couple of devices to show off. This isn’t exactly surprising, Samsung have tried different screen sizes in tablets before, such as the 7.7 and the 8.9-inch sizes, so an 8-inch is hardly surprising. The question here is, how much cheaper is this going to be than the Galaxy Note 8.0, and how much more expensive is it going to be than the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0? Is this one device too many for Samsung’s tablet line-up? What do you think, let us know in the comments below!
