HTC Throws a Right Hook at the Competition in New Commercials, Prove They Know How to Advertise

HTC stepped into the ring and took a nice big swing at the competition with their latest commercial. It exclusively highlights BlinkFeed, their unique social news feed designed to replace one of the many Android homescreens. The tagline here is that with other phones you have to dig through content and wade through steaming piles of ***t to get to what you want. The HTC One supposedly changes the game by bringing all that content to the forefront, or as HTC puts it “all your favorite content streamed live onto your homescreen.”

The second commercial is pretty funny, although the humor is a little awkward. I apologize in advance for this, but I have to say it, the guy showing off the phone is a complete douche. Unfortunately, I’m sure there are times when even I come off the same way showing my phone to others. Also, I’m not entirely sure users dig that much to find what they’re looking for so the concept is certainly exaggerated a bit in all of these commercials. Still, take a gander at the second commercial and then move on.

The third commercial is much older, but it’s a good example of how HTC markets and advertises their devices. In the case of the following commercial (below) I would say they did it right. No emphasis is placed on BlinkFeed, but instead this commercial talks about the front facing speakers and BoomSound offered with the One. In other words, the HTC One features higher quality audio and the speakers are placed perfectly so that you can hear audio content better. If you have the One, it would be great to hear you comment on the feature below! Just go ahead and give a shout out. I’m sure more than a few of you want to celebrate your beautiful, and quite elegant “all metal” phone. Before you do that though, be sure to watch this last -slightly older- ad from HTC.

What do you think of the advertisements? Does HTC know how to market their device? Although I don’t entirely agree with some of the points they made (like the endless digging), it’s hard to deny the fact that they put the features they were talking about front and center. After watching these commercials, you certainly have a better idea of how the phone, or at the very least a specific feature works.
