Earlier this month, AT&T and Samsung announced that its Galaxy Note phablet was receiving its Jelly Bean update. For many people, that was great news and they jumped on the opportunity to update their device. According many users, the feeling a week later is much different than the initial joy felt when updating their Galaxy Note. According to consumers, the Jelly Bean update has presented issues relating to battery life, missing features, and overall performance throughout the operating system.
Even though Android 4.1 is slightly outdated, it was still a much needed update for the AT&T Galaxy Note. The device was previously rocking Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which as we all know, can be more than a little buggy at times. It looks like, however, that Jelly Bean has now presented even more problems to Galaxy Note owners.
First off, AT&T Note owners are complaining about the lack of Multi-Window support on their device. This is one of the top features of Jelly Bean on the international Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note II, so where is it for the original AT&T variant? To me, it sounds like AT&T’s attempt to get you to upgrade your device to the new Galaxy Note II.
Unfortunately, this is a trend that United States users are becoming all too familiar with. When the Galaxy S III received its Android 4.1 update, nearly every variant got a new Premium Suite of features, except the models here in the United States. Why? No one knows for sure, but like I said earlier, it sounds like carriers trying to nickel and dime you every chance they get.
Next, Galaxy Note owners are complaining that battery life has taken a turn for the worst since updating to Jelly Bean. They say the device will now drain within a few hours of use, whereas it use to last for a much longer, more consistent amount of time.
Finally, Note users are reporting much worse performance with Jelly Bean than with Ice Cream Sandwich. While Jelly Bean is supposed to bring a more fluid experience, it looks like it has done the opposite with the Note. Which, if you ask me is ridiculous.
I get an update having a small bug or two, but the fact that the Galaxy Note’s Jelly Bean update brought this many issues is frustrating to say the least, and I don’t even own the device. Are you an AT&T Galaxy Note owner who has updated to Jelly Bean? Are you noticing any of these issues? Let us know down in the comments!
