HP has tried to break into the tablet game already. Anyone remember the Touchpad? Yeah the one that went on a fire sale and suddenly it was the top selling tablet. Then earlier this year, they came back with an Android tablet at Mobile World Congress, the Slate 7. Which was a pretty poor excuse for a tablet. But it was pretty cheap, and it’ll probably sell well based on name recognition.
Enter, the HP Slatebook x2. This is a 10-inch Full HD tablet with Tegra 4 that was kinda-sorta announced at CTIA earlier this month. It was originally supposed to start shipping in August, but we are now hearing that it might start shipping in July to Europe at least.
The HP Slatebook x2 is running Android 4.2 – Jelly Bean on a 10-inch 1920×1080 HD display with a Tegra 4 quad-core chip inside along with a microSD card slot, HDMI out, stock Android and 16GB of storage. It also has front-facing speakers similar to the Nexus 10 from Samsung. Who’s ready to throw money at this one already?
The US market may have to wait until August or later for this tablet to hit the shelves. But those lucky Europeans get it earlier. The device is supposed to hit the shelves with options from 16GB up to 64GB of internal storage, along with the microSD card slot and there is a rumor about a 4G LTE model coming as well. Which I hope it comes unlocked in the US so we can use it on T-Mobile or AT&T, similar to the HSPA+ Nexus 7.
